It's always amazing to meet other "moto" people. There's an instant connection that you just don't seem to have with anyone else. Whether you grew up in a family that rode and raced for generations or found moto somewhere along the way, we all seem to share the same heart and passion for it. There's just something about this world that gets into you and never really leaves.
The 1990s were lit! Our family grew up on the West Coast, where dirt bikes, BMX bikes, and basically anything with wheels or a motor were everywhere you looked. We didn't have much in the way of safety gear, our ramps were usually made out of bricks and plywood, and dirt jumps were built wherever we could find enough space and a shovel. We jumped our siblings without helmets and have the fake smiles to prove it. Our families spent weekends camping in the desert, and it seemed like we were always headed to Glamis, Ocotillo, Beaumont, Lucerne, or Big Bear. As summer rolled in and the desert became too hot to ride, our handlebars changed from dirt bikes to stand-up Jet Skis, and if you were really lucky, maybe a turquoise Kawasaki X-2. It wasn't fancy, it definitely wasn't always safe, but man, it was fun.
Why it exists
Those memories and traditions are a huge part of why Moto Since Birth exists. We want our kids to grow up with their own version of that life, weekends outside, engines running, families together, and the excitement that comes from learning to ride something for the first time. The world has changed a lot since we were kids, but that feeling doesn't have to. Moto Since Birth is here to keep those traditions rolling and make sure the stoke is more alive than ever for the next generation.
It started at a campfire
The idea for our original Motocross Baby Teether actually happened by accident around a campfire. Our daughter, Saylor Grace, was about six months old and was holding a little pink teething bar. She happened to grab it with both hands and hold it out in front of her like a set of handlebars, and dad immediately started trying to make her say "brrrrattttttt". We immediately started laughing and thought, "How fun would it be if someone actually made a baby teether that looked like moto handlebars?" That little moment around the fire stuck with us, and eventually we decided we should be the ones to make it.
By the time our second daughter, Sadie Rae, was born, she immediately became the newest member of our R&D team. With the help of a 3D printer and a lot of experimenting, we started making prototypes and putting them in her hands, and, of course, her mouth, to see what worked. We changed shapes, sizes, textures, and designs until we finally had a moto teether we were proud of. At that point, we thought the hard part was over and we were ready to launch.
Then we found out what a teether actually takes
We quickly learned that developing a baby teether is a whole lot different than developing a fun moto product. There are major safety requirements, ASTM standards, third-party laboratory testing, certifications, and a long list of things we had never imagined when we first laughed about the idea around that campfire. We went down the rabbit hole and decided that if we were going to make something designed to go into a baby's hands and mouth, we were going to do everything we could to make it right. After a lot of testing, development, patience, and learning along the way, we finally launched the Moto Since Birth Motocross Baby Teether in 2025.
We hope you're as stoked on it as we are, but the teether is really only the beginning of what we want Moto Since Birth to become. We plan to keep building products that introduce the next generation to the lifestyle we love and help families keep these traditions alive. Maybe their version will look a little different than ours did in the '90s, but hopefully the feeling is exactly the same.
